Clinic Visit

Your visit to our clinic as a patient will typically take between 1 - 2 hours which includes pre-assessment by a certified ophthalmic technician, vision testing, intraocular pressure measurement, instillation of dilating eye drops, possible retinal imaging studies or visual field testing depending on the reason for the visit, and an examination and assessment by your retinal specialist. You may be asked to provide information about past medical and ocular history. Please also bring a current list of your medications, including eye drops.

Your retinal specialist may need to discuss specific surgeries or medical treatments for your eye condition. If you wish to have a friend or family member participate in this discussion, please have them present during the examination.

Your pupils will be dilated for examination of the retina. This can make you more light sensitive and blur your vision for up to 4-6 hours. We recommend you bring someone to accompany you who can drive home afterwards, or make other suitable arrangements for transportation. Please bring sunglasses for after your appointment.

If you wear contact lenses, please bring a storage case as the lenses will need to be removed. Also have your most recent glasses with you.
